Looks like Lilly has settled comfortably in her new home

Lilly came from a high kill animal shelter in Newport, TN and was scheduled to be euthanized.
Quote from her new family. "I never want to see an animal put down, but I tell you if Lilly had been, it would have been a greater loss than imaginable. My whole family loves her so much. I am so thankful we have her!"

Only one of the "7 dwarfs" is left~ADOPTED 1/18/2010

Sleepy is a 7 week old puppy that has already had a rough start to life. Him and his siblings were "not wanted" anmore so their previous owners just opened the garage odor and let them out in the freezing cold. If you would like to give Sleepy the family he deserves then contact his foster mom, Micah at 615-260-4379 or hopeshavenpetrescue@gmail.com *******Sleepy's adoption fee is $75.00*************** Sleepy is up-to-date with routine shots and spayed/neutered.

This story DOES have a Happy Ending

It all started with an email from Moe.
"First thing this am I took Leggins up to the vet......having examined him already and noting that the right leg was smaller and shorter and could feel a lot of calcification, I pretty much figured he had a problem; however, I had no idea how much problem. He had let us know when we were holding him last night that he was in pain.

I only wish you all could see this little boy's x-ray, it was absolutely shocking......the leg is trashed......several breaks and total knee separation, calcification such that it clearly showed this was not a new injury but had happened a while back......there is no way it could have gone unnoticed when it happened and no way a person would not have known how much pain he had to be in. He's obviously just had to suffer thru it. I am attaching his pictures so you know which one he is and you can see where he is chowing down that the right rear leg is held up and shorter.

Bottom line--it is not repairable and we cannot let him remain in pain so the leg will be amputated at 1 PM tomorrow (Tuesday) at VetMed Animal Health in Mt Juliet.

I know many of you who have been involved in this rescue effort of the 7 puppies have asked what you could do and asked for updates. I will send daily updates thru the House Family and Sara Dunn who can pass them on to you all....I will have my hands full here for awhile. The amputation alone is costing $750 plus we still have all 7 to spay and neuter. They have already received their first round of of shots and worming. We are starting a Leggins Fund at VetMed to help offset this unusual expense. Because Hope's Haven Pet Rescue is a 501c3 organization all donations are tax deductible so for any one who may choose to the contributions can be sent directly to:

oh by the way--they are being named after the 7 Dwarfs for now.

I have to put a little personal plug in for VetMed Animal Health as they provide the next level of veterinary care. Drs. Gables and Harris have taken care of and done the surgery on my Triumph and for those of you who haven't read her story, she is a double rear amputee.
EVERYONE without exception at that clinic is not just a professional of highest quality, but CARES very much about each and every animal that comes thru the door as if it were there own. They have a brand new clinic with all the latest in equipment and training. So--our boy is going to be in the best of hands tomorrow. I will be with him every step of the way from the time we get there, I will be in surgery with him and take care of him post operatively along with the entire team.

Please pass on the word and whoever is posting the info on facebook feel free to post this update too.
I also ask for your prayers for this little guy tomorrow as he is very young for such a major surgery but we cannot leave him in pain.

Thanks, Moe

So, the word was passed, and the Mt Juliet Chronicle wrote an article about Leggin, and to quote Kathy Richards, "The out pour of support, kindness, prayers and donations have been unbelievable. We can not thank these people enough. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts."
He has been renamed Cassidy, as in Hop-along Cassidy, and is recovering nicely. Moe adopted him, and one by one his siblings are being adopted.
Please visit us at Pet Finder, Sleepy, Sneezy, Dopey, and other darlings need forever homes.
Again, THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

This sweet little girl was picked up while wandering the streets in Donelson in this last cold spell. Thanks to a kind hearted person, she was brought in out of the cold, fed and loved on. Now we need to find Callie a forever home. Callie loves to play as much as she loves to snuggle in your lap and if she can play while snuggled in your lap, she is in heaven. She is up to date on her shots and will be spayed. Please contact her foster mom, Kathy, if you would like to set a time to meet Callie. 615-430-0616 Callie is up-to-date with routine shots.
